Transformation in a Can

A can of Spray paint (or a few cans in my case) can do wonders when it comes to transforming something.  I'm not afraid to admit that I am just mildly obsessed with this stuff.  Once I start spray painting things, I can't stop.  I literally think "what can I change next?".  It's a problem.  My husband only {kinda} jokes about it.  He thinks I am a little nuts...but in a good way (I hope).

Anyhoo, on Saturday I got busy painting away while Mr. Delicious was napping and the Hubs and Capt. Crazy were swimming.  The problem?  The bench in our loft/landing area upstairs.  The bench was free from an office closing, but it was way too traditional for my taste.  I knew it had major potential though.  Solution? Spray paint...DUH!

Before (Obviously)!
Behold the beauty that now greets me atop of the stairs.  Viola!
After (isn't she pretty)?!

The landing/loft area.  She made a great addition to the space.
* Bench (free).
* $20 in spray paint.
* I covered the cushion with an extra window panel I already had (free).
* I made the toss pillows simply by using a white Dupioni silk pillow cover, and an self- adhesive fabric Quatrefoil. I bought the materials from Joann's for $20 (with coupons). I already had the pillow inserts (free).
* Total cost to transform bench: $40 (not bad)!

While I was a little "spray happy" I decided to paint a little end table I had in storage.  It now resides in my laundry/mud room and it is the perfect little table to put my sunglasses and keys when coming through the door.
Before (not doing it for me).
It was way too shabby chic for my taste, so I had to brighten it up. Viola!
After!  Much more fun. We keep our flip flops in the storage bin (to the right) so we can easily store/grab our shoes before heading outside to play.

The rest of the Laundry/mudroom.

Another view.  Lots more I want to do.  Chandelier light fixture, paint, wallpaper.....the list never ends.

* $5 in spray paint.
* Already had the table (free).
* Total cost for mudroom catchall table: $5 (love it)!

P.S.  Is anyone else in love with spray paint as much as me?
P.P.S.  Make it a great Tuesday! XoX

Rio

Have you seen the movie "Rio" yet?  If you don't have kids, you probably haven't...but, I recommend you do anyway.  It is hilarious, has a great cast and soundtrack.  Oh, and the movie is beyond adorable.

Anyhoo, where I am going with this? COLOR!  I am not taking about some pastel, or splashes of color.  I am taking about the bright, bold, beautiful, saturated colors you can find everywhere in Rio de Janeiro. You know, like a rainbow or bag of skittles exploded or something. As I was watching the movie with my boys (and laughing my face off...it really is funny), I was in awe by all the bright colors and it immediately made me want to be there...in Rio, during Carnival. How fabulous would that be?!  Boo-ya.

In honor of this adorable movie, and all the fantastic color that Carnival {and Rio} is so famous for, I was totally inspired by these bright and bold interiors.  I hope you have a great Wednesday! XoX

Inspired by the Sea

As part of my "Inspired by Nature" series of posts that I am doing, I decided to let my favorite element of Nature, water, be my guide for my second post. You may remember my first post on the Sun.  I have always been fascinated with the Sea.  It is such a magical and vast body of water.  Home to Predators and to kingdoms made of Coral, it really is a plethora of beauty and majestic wonder.  It is nature's purest form of the color Turquoise.  Turquoise is my favorite color (besides Yellow), and any image with this color reminds me of the Sea and all its lovely awe and glory. I hope you have a great Tuesday!! XoX

** P.S.  Awesome Giveaway next week...stay tuned :)

I have always had an obsession with birdcages.

My favorite color combo: Turquoise & Hot Pink

Can I be here...like, now.

So cute.

Love this.

In an all white room?  Yes please.

Oh my.

Bam.

I love this laundry room.  So simple and clean.

Hello, aren't you lovely.

I would like this.

This Ice Cream reminds of the Gumball flavor I would order as a little girl.

I need to remind myself of this, daily (I tend to be a stress ball).

The most fabulous dress... ever. (You may remember this dress from a post I did last week titled "flowy", which is still MIA thanks to blogger's issues.  Thanks google, grr).

This Ship Was Built to Last

"She must find a boat and sail in it.  No gauarantee of shore.  Only a conviction that what she wanted could exist, if she dared to find it." Jeanette Winterson

 Sail on.  Dream on. Explore fully. Love deeply. Happy Saturday.
